  • 3 cups - besan
  • 1 cup - Rice powder
  • 1.5 tsp - chilli powder
  • a pinch - Asafoetida (hing)
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying
  • special vessel you need: presser used for chiwda

How to Make Oomapodi

  • Mix the besan, rice powder, chilli powder, salt and asafoetida with water to make a dough (similar to that of chapatti dough).
  • Make a ball and put in mould.
  • In a kadai, heat oil. When it is hot enough, pipe the oomapodi into the oil.
  • Fry them till golden brown and take them out.
  • Serve hot with tea or coffee.
