Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Orange juice
  • 1 - Tomato (crushed)
  • 1 tsp - Rasam powder
  • 2 - Garlic Cloves (crushed)
  • 1/4 cup - Cooked dal
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafoetida powder
  • 2 - Dry Red Chillies
  • a few Curry leaves
  • Salt
  • 1/2 tsp - Ghee or oil
  • How to Make Orange Rasam:

    1. In a bowl, mix the cooked dal with rasam powder, crushed tomato, crushed garlic and salt along with enough water.
    2. Heat the ghee, add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida powder, red chillies, curry leaves and fry until they turn brown.
    3. Add the tomato-dal water immediately.
    4. Bring to a boil and add the orange juice.
    5. Serve hot with rice.
