Ingredients

  • 1 cup - red lentil (wash and soak in water for 15 minutes)
  • 2 handful - cut palak or spinach
  • 1/4 cup - grated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp - jeera
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric
  • 1/2 - red onion
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 1/4 tsp - mustard, curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 2 - whole red chillies

How to Make Palak and Red Lentil Curry

  • Put soaked and washed red lentil in the cooker.
  • Add the cut palak/spinach, salt to taste and turmeric.
  • Close the pressure cooker lid and cook.
  • Take off from heat after 1 whistle and let it cool.
  • In the meantime, grind the grated coconut, jeera, red chilli powder into a fine paste.
  • Add this into the cooker and mix well.
  • Allow it to boil for a minute.
  • In a kadai, pour oil. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and 2 whole red chillies.
  • Pour this over the dal curry.
  • Taste salt if less add as per requirements.
