Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200 g) - moong dal
  • 1 - green chilli
  • 1 - 1/2 inch piece of ginger, chopped
  • 12 - garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tsp - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 - small bunch of methi leaves, washed and finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - cooking soda
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tsp - oil to grease the katoris/pandori cups

How to Make Pandori

  • Grease the katoris or pandori cups with a little oil and keep ready.
  • Wash and soak the moong dal in 2 cups of water for 4 hours, then drain the water.
  • Add green chilli, ginger and garlic and prepare a smooth batter in a mixer (do not use water).
  • Add chopped coriander leaves, methi leaves, cooking soda and salt. Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Pour the pandori batter in each cup (three-fourth level) and steam in a steamer or pressure cooker (without weight) for 5-7 minutes or until soft.
  • To check if the pandoris are ready, pierce them with a toothpick. The batter should not stick to it. Unmould and serve hot with a chutney of your choice.
