Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200 g) - broken Rice (Rice rava)
  • 1 cup (200 ml) - water
  • 3/4 cup - boiled Milk
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 30 g (2 tbsp) - grated Coconut
  • 1 tsp - butter, melted
  • How to Make Papputu:

    1. Grease a steel plate with the butter and keep aside.
    2. In a bowl, mix the rice rava with water, milk, salt, sugar, cardamom powder and half of the grated coconut (the mixture should be thinner than dosa batter).
    3. Pour the mixture into the steel plate and sprinkle the remaining grated coconut on top.
    4. Steam it in a steamer/dhokla steamer or pressure cooker (without weight) for 25 minutes (reduce the steam to medium after the first 5 minutes).
    5. Switch off the heat and allow to cool for half an hour.
    6. Cut into desired shape and size. Serve with any spicy curry.
