Ingredients

  • 1 Vazhaipoo (Banana Flower).
  • 2 tsp Chana Dal (Kadalai Paruppu).
  • 2 tsp Toor Dal (Tuvaram Paruppu).
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds (Kadugu).
  • 1/4 tsp Urad Dal (Ulutham Paruppu).
  • 3 Red Chillies.
  • 1 Pinch Asafoetida.
  • Salt to Taste.

How to Make Paruppu Usili Recipe

  • Soak channa dal, toor dal in hot water for about 1 hour.
  • Cut vazhaipoo petals into small pieces. Boil in water for 5 minutes and drain.
  • Grind the dals with red chillies, salt and asafoetida in a blender, without water.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Add mustard seeds and urad dal.
  • Add the ground dal paste when the seeds splutter. Stir until the mixture crumbles.
  • Add the vazhaipoo (or any other vegetable). Stir for five minutes and take off fire.
