Ingredients

  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 2 - Bitter gourd (pavakka)
  • 3/4 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup (50 ml) - water
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • How to Make Pavakka Mezhukkupuratti (Bitter Gourd Stir Fry):

    1. Wash and clean the bitter gourd and cut into 1-inch thin slices.
    2. Microwave on high for 4 minutes with 1/2 cup of water.
    3. Heat oil in a wide pan and add the mustard seeds.
    4. When they begin to pop, add the microwaved bitter gourd slices, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste.
    5. Add 1 cup of water and cook until the water dries up .
    6. Cover with a lid and cook on low to medium heat for 10-12 minutes until the water completely dries up.
    7. Serve hot with rice.
