Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - long beans.
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds.
  • 2 - dry red chillies broken in half.
  • 2 tbsp - oil salt to taste.
  • Grind to a paste:
  • 3/4 cup - fresh coconut grated.
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds.
  • 3 flakes - garlic.
  • 2 - green chillies.
  • 2 to 3 pinches - turmeric powder.

How to Make Payar Thoran

  • Cut beans into very tiny pieces.
  • Heat oil, add mustard seeds and chillies.
  • Add beans and salt to it.
  • Pour some water just enough to cook the beans.
  • Cover the pan and let the beans cook.
  • Add the ground paste to it.
  • Simmer again, stirring gently, till all water is evaporated.
  • Serve hot with rice, chapatti, etc.
