Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 1/2 kg
  • shelled Green peas - 2 cup
  • Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Onion - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Ginger - 3 cm
  • Garlic - 6 flakes
  • Green chillies - 3
  • chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Oil or Ghee - 3 tbsp
  • Bay Leaf 1
  • salt to taste
  • dry Mango powder (Aamchoor) - 1 tsp
  • How to Make Peas and Potato Salan:

    1. Peel and cut potatoes into 4 cm cubes.
    2. Grind the green peas to a paste.
    3. Grind onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies together.
    4. Mix chilli powder, turmeric powder and Garam Masala powder together with little water to a thick paste.
    5. Heat oil or Ghee. Add bay leaf. Add onion paste and fry till fragrant.
    6. Add the red paste and fry for 1 minute. Add the ground peas and fry for 2 minutes.
    7. Add about 4 cups of water, potatoes and salt. Cover and simmer till the potatoes are cooked.
    8. Sprinkle mango powder on top. Mix well and remove from fire.
