Ingredients

  • 3 cups - fresh green peas.
  • 4 - onion.
  • 7-8 - green chillies.
  • 3/4 tsp - ginger garlic paste.
  • 2 tbsp - oil.
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds.
  • 1-2 tbsp - butter.
  • 2 tbsp - Coriander leaves (finely chopped, to garnish).
  • 3 tbsp - grated coconut.
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds (roasted).
  • 1/2 tsp - methi seeds (roasted).
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder.
  • 1 bunch - curry leaves (optional).
  • salt to taste.

How to Make Peas Usli

  • Cut the green chillies and onion.
  • In a pressure pan, heat oil, season with mustard (till they splutter), add curry leaves.
  • Add the cut onions and chillies and fry till onions turn pink.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a min.
  • Add the green peas, fry for 10-15 mins.
  • Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water for cooking.
  • Meanwhile, dry grind the turmeric powder, roasted cumin and methi seeds to a fine powder.
  • Add the powdered masala, butter, salt (according to your taste) and pressure cook just for a whistle.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and grated coconut.
  • Serve hot usli with chapattis or rotis.
