Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut.
  • 15 - black pepper corns.
  • 2 tbsp - fennel.
  • 4 - medium sized ridge gourds.
  • 1 - onion.
  • 1- tomato.
  • 1 - green chilli.
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric.
  • 2 tbsp - oil.
  • A few curry leaves.
  • Salt.

How to Make Peerkangai Curry

  • Grind coconut, fennel and pepper to a thick smooth paste.
  • Pour oil in a pan. Add chopped onions, fry till transparent.
  • Add curry leaves, green chilli and turmeric.
  • Add tomato and cook well.
  • Now add the chopped ridge gourds, cook till it becomes tender.
  • Add some water and salt. Cook covered for 7 mins.
  • Make sure that the vegetable is cooked.
  • Add the ground masala to the vegetable.
  • Cook till the masala is absorbed.
  • Serve hot with chapattis or rice.
