Ingredients

  • For the Banana koftas:
  • 2 - Raw bananas
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - ginger, chopped
  • 2 - Green chillies
  • 1 tbsp - Refined flour (maida)
  • Oil to fry
  • Salt to taste
  • For the gravy:
  • 1 cup - Tomato puree
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 - Bay Leaf
  • 1 tbsp - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup - ghee/oil
  • How to Make Phaldari kofta (raw banana koftas):

    1. For the koftas: Pressure cook the bananas up to 4-5 whistles (about 10 mins.)
    2. Add the refined flour, onion, ginger, chillies and salt to the bananas.
    3. Mix well and form marble-sized balls.
    4. Deep fry the balls in hot oil and keep aside. For the gravy:
    5. Heat ghee or oil in a pan.
    6. Add the bay leaves and cumin seeds.
    7. When the seeds crackle, add the ginger garlic paste, tomato puree, red chilli and garam masala powder and cook for 3-4 mins.
    8. Add water and salt, and boil till the mixture thickens.
    9. How to proceed:
    10. Add the koftas to the gravy and simmer for 5 mins.
    11. Sprinkle with coriander leaves and serve hot.
