Ingredients

  • 1 - cauliflower, medium size
  • 1 - onion
  • 1 - lime
  • 1.5 cups - basmati rice
  • 3 cups - water
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - ghee
  • cashewnuts (roasted in ghee)
  • To fry in a tsp of oil and grind:
  • 3 - red chillies
  • 2 tsp - coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp - Bengal gram dhal
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp - pepper
  • 1/2 tsp - jeera
  • 1 tsp - garam masala powder

How to Make Phool Gobi Chawal

  • Wash the rice 2 or 3 times and cook it with 3 cups of water. Cut cauliflower into small flowerets and keep immersed in salted water for 5 minutes. Wash well and boil it with little water for 5 minutes in microwave oven. Drain water after cauliflower is boiled.
  • Add 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Fry 1 onion (chopped) until golden brown then add the boiled cauliflower with it. Add turmeric powder and salt as required.
  • Add the ground mixture mix thoroughly and cook for 5 - 10 min.
  • Squeeze one lime and add the juice to the above cooked vegetable and mix well.
  • Add ghee and mix the vegetable with the cooked rice.
  • Garnish with cashew nuts.
