Ingredients

  • 450 g - unbleached white bread flour
  • 240 ml - warm water
  • 2 tbsp - Olive oil
  • 1 tsp - dried Yeast
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1 - Egg yolk mixed with water for glazing
  • nigella or sesame seeds for sprinkling
  • How to Make Pide:

    1. Mix all the ingredients other than egg yolk and seeds.
    2. Make it into a smooth dough using an electric mixer or by using your hands.
    3. Place the dough in a clean oiled bowl and cover it with a cling film.
    4. Leave it in a warm place until swells to nearly double its size.
    5. Take the dough, punch it down gently and divide it into three equal rounds.
    6. Shape each piece into a ball and roll it into a round of about 6inches in diameter.
    7. Cover it with an oiled cling film and leave for about 20 minutes.
    8. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 230 degree Celsius.
    9. Just before baking the bread, make ridges all over the surface of the bread using your fingers, place the bread on a floured baking sheet, brush on top with the egg glaze and sprinkle it with seeds.
    10. Bake it in the hot oven for 9 to 10 minutes or until puffed and golden in colour. Serve immediately.
