Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Chickpea flour.
  • 3/4 to 1 cup - water.
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds.
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric.
  • 1 pinch - Asafoetida powder.
  • 2 tbsp - oil.
  • 2 - green chilli.
  • 2 - small pods garlic, cut in small pieces.
  • 1 - small Onion (optional).
  • 1 - tomato, cut in small pieces.
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 2 cups - water.
  • How to Make Pithale (Marathi Dish):

    1. Mix chickpea flour in 1/2 cup water to make smooth watery paste.
    2. When the mustard seeds splutters, add asafoetida powder, turmeric, green chilli, onion and garlic.
    3. Fry till onion becomes pink. Add tomato and let it cook for a minute.
    4. Add hot water, salt, red chilli powder and stir well.
    5. When the water starts boiling, add besan paste slowly, continuously stirring the water.
    6. Cook till it becomes thick.
    7. Serve hot. |
