Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup - long grain rice, washed and drained
  • 4 to 5 cups - Milk
  • 2 to 3 - Cardamom seeds, crushed
  • 2 tbsp - almonds, blanched silvered
  • 1 pinch - Saffron threads, soaked in little hot Milk
  • 1 tbsp - skinned Pistachio nuts, chopped
  • 1 tbsp - Raisins
  • 2 to 3 tbsp - Sugar
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee

How to Make Plain Kheer

  • Put the rice, milk and cardamom in a pan.
  • Bring it to a boil and simmer gently until the rice is soft and the grains start to break up.
  • Add almonds, pistachio, saffron and raisins and simmer for 3-4 mins.
  • Add the sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add ghee and keep stirring until cooked.
