Ingredients

  • Carrots - 4 (grated)
  • Moong dal - 1/4 cup, soaked in water for 1/2 hour
  • Coconut (grated) - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Hing Asafoetida - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 2 (slit)
  • Curry leaves and coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil-1 tsp

How to Make Plain Kosambari

  • In a salad bowl, mix the grated carrots, soaked moong dal (after straining excess water), coconut, curry leaves, coriander leaves, salt and lime juice.
  • Fry the seasonings (mustard, urad dal, green chillies, asafetida) in oil till they splutter and add this to the salad.
  • Mix well and serve.
