Ingredients

  • Juice from 1 Lime
  • Rice - 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • For seasoning:
  • A few Curry leaves
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  • Cashew nut - 4 to 5
  • Peanuts - 1 tbsp
  • Channa dal - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • A small slice of Ginger
  • Garlic - 2 flakes, chopped
  • Oil
  • How to Make Plain Lemon Rice:

    1. Boil the rice ensuring that the grains are separate.
    2. Boil the peas with little salt.
    3. Grind grated coconut with coriander, garlic, ginger and green chillies into a fine paste.
    4. Heat the oil in a pan.
    5. Add the masala and fry until oil separates.
    6. Add the peas and cook for 5 minutes.
    7. Remove the rice in a large flat dish.
    8. Add salt, lime juice and masala to the rice and mix well.
    9. Serve with raita and papad.
