Ingredients

  • 1 - whole Milk
  • 3/4 cup - Sugar
  • 1/4 cup - basmati Rice
  • 1/2 cup - makhanas
  • 1/2 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp - chopped mixed nuts (almonds & pistachios)
  • 1 tsp - Ghee

How to Make Plain Makhana Kheer

  • Wash and soak basmati rice in water for 20 minutes.
  • Drain out all water from rice in a colander.
  • Heat a heavy saucepan, add ghee.
  • Melt, add rice and stir-fry with spatula for a minute.
  • Add half milk, half cup hot water.
  • Stir gently till mixture starts to boil.
  • Simmer on low till rice is half done.
  • Add remaining milk, bring back to boil.
  • Add all other ingredients, stir till boiling resumes.
  • Simmer on low, till rice is fully cooked.
  • Serve hot or cold, garnished with some chopped nuts.
