  • 1 - whole chicken
  • 4 - medium-sized onions
  • Few cashews and raisins
  • 1- hard boiled egg
  • 3 tsp - curd
  • A pinch of orange colour
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Oil
  • Chilli powder to taste
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Plain Murg Musallam

  • Clean the chicken and make vertical slits on it. Do not make holes.
  • Add curd, turmeric, chilli powder, salt, colour and 1/2 tsp vegetable oil to the chicken.
  • Marinate chicken in the mixture for 5 hours (refrigerate it and take out an hour before cooking).
  • In a wok, add oil, chopped onions and fry till they turn golden brown.
  • Add chilli powder, salt, turmeric to the onions and fry till the oil separates.
  • Add raisins and cashews.
  • Stuff the marinated chicken with this onion mixture and hard boiled egg.
  • Pre heat oven at 350 C for 5 mins.
  • Keep the stuffed chicken in a greased dish and bake for an hour, turning upside down in between.
  • Make sure not to overcook.
  • Take it out when it has a little reddish-brown tinge on the top.
  • Slice and serve with onion rings, lemon and puris.
