Ingredients

  • 12 pieces - mutton
  • 1 cup - chopped onions
  • 2 tsps - garam masala powder
  • 5 cups - rice
  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 1 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - cilantro, mint
  • 2 tbsp - sour cream

How to Make Plain Mutton Biriyani

  • Marinate the mutton pieces with 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, salt, sour cream, and coriander powder for 1 hour.
  • Fry half of the onions in a pan till they turn golden brown and keep them aside.
  • Take some oil in a pan, add the remaining chopped onions, 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste and add the marinated mutton.
  • Let it cook for 10 -15 mins over a medium flame.
  • Then add yogurt and crushed fried onions, and let it cook for another 10 mins.
  • Add garam masala powder.
  • Preparation of rice:
  • For 5 cups of rice, pour 10 glasses of water.
  • Add raw garam masala and salt, and cook for 4 whistles.
  • Layer the mutton with the rice and cover the dish with a lid.
  • Cook for another 15-20 mins on dum.
