Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound - okra, cut in small pieces
  • 3 - medium sized red onions
  • 4 - green chillies
  • 1 tbsp - khus-khus
  • A handful of cashews
  • 2 - Tomatoes
  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1 - tsp coriander powder
  • A little each of cumin, methi seeds and saunf
  • Salt for taste
  • Cilantro for garnishing

How to Make Plain Okra Masala

  • Fry okra partially or can bake them in oven 400 degrees for 15 mins.
  • Dry roast the khus-khus and cashews. Saute onions and grind them along with the khus-khus and cashews.
  • Splutter cumin, methi seeds and saunf. Then saute sliced green chillies and tomatoes.
  • Add the ground paste, chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder. Cook til oil separates.
  • Add yogurt and cook for 15 mins.
  • Finally add the fried okra and salt.
  • Garnish with cilantro.
