Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg - Prawn (shelled).
  • 1 tsp - cumin.
  • 1 tsp - pepper.
  • 10 - Kashmir chillies.
  • Vinegar to taste.
  • 1 tsp - turmeric.
  • 2 cups - oil.
  • 4 - medium Onions (minced).
  • 2 - large sprigs curry leaves.
  • 1 inch - Ginger (chopped).
  • 3 - whole pods Garlic (chopped).
  • 4 to 5 - Green chillies (de-seeded and chopped).
  • salt to taste.

How to Make Plain Prawn Balchao

  • Grind together the cumin, pepper and Kashmiri chillies in vinegar and mix in the turmeric.
  • Heat the oil and fry the onions.
  • Now add the prawns and the ground masala.
  • Next add the curry leaves, the chopped ginger, green chillies and garlic.
  • Add salt and vinegar to taste and simmer till well cooked.
  • Serve hot with rice and curry.
