Ingredients

  • 20 to 25 - medium sized prawns.
  • 2- medium sized onions, finely chopped.
  • 1 - tomato, chopped.
  • 1 - potato, peeled and cut.
  • 1/2 tsp - ginger paste.
  • 1 tsp - garlic paste.
  • 1 tsp - dhania jeera powder.
  • 1 tsp - garam masala powder.
  • 2 tsp - red chilli powder.
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder.
  • 1 tbsp - tamarind pulp| For garnishing:
  • Few - coriander, finely chopped.
  • Little - coconut, grated.
  • To taste - salt.

How to Make Plain Prawns Masala

  • Clean the prawns and marinate them for about 15-20 mins by adding a little turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt.
  • Take oil in a vessel, add onions, potatoes and salt.
  • Add ginger paste and garlic paste.
  • Saute the onions, potatoes on low flame, till oil separates from the sides and the potato pieces are cooked.
  • Add the tomatoes and saute again.
  • Then add the garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and dhania jeera powder. Saute the mixture.
  • Add the prawns and cook on low flame, covering the vessel with a lid.
  • After the prawns are cooked, add the tamarind pulp to it.
  • Lastly garnish with coriander leaves and freshly grated coconut.
  • Enjoy this spicy dish with hot chapattis or bread.
