Ingredients

  • 20 to 25 - medium sized prawns.
  • 2- medium sized onions, finely chopped.
  • 1 - tomato, chopped.
  • 1 - potato, peeled and cut.
  • 1/2 tsp - Ginger paste.
  • 1 tsp - Garlic paste.
  • 1 tsp - Dhania Jeera powder.
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala powder.
  • 2 tsp - Red Chilli powder.
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder.
  • 1 tbsp - Tamarind pulp| For garnishing:
  • Few - coriander, finely chopped.
  • Little - coconut, grated.
  • To taste - salt.
  • How to Make Plain Prawns Masala:

    1. Clean the prawns and marinate them for about 15-20 mins by adding a little turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt.
    2. Take oil in a vessel, add onions, potatoes and salt.
    3. Add ginger paste and garlic paste.
    4. Saute the onions, potatoes on low flame, till oil separates from the sides and the potato pieces are cooked.
    5. Add the tomatoes and saute again.
    6. Then add the garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and dhania jeera powder. Saute the mixture.
    7. Add the prawns and cook on low flame, covering the vessel with a lid.
    8. After the prawns are cooked, add the tamarind pulp to it.
    9. Lastly garnish with coriander leaves and freshly grated coconut.
    10. Enjoy this spicy dish with hot chapattis or bread.
