Ingredients

  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp - Methi seeds
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - Channa dal
  • 1 - Tomato (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 Lemon sized - Tamarind
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • 2 - Dry chilli
  • 1 tbsp - Rasam powder
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - Oil (or ghee)
  • Small piece Jaggery
  • How to Make Plain Rasam:

    1. Soak the tamarind in water.
    2. Take a kadai and put 2 tbsp of oil.
    3. Put mustard seeds, methi seeds, cumin seeds, channa dal, dry chilli and allow them to splutter and turn light brown.
    4. Add the tamarind water. Add turmeric, rasam powder, salt and allow it to boil for 5 min.
    5. Add the cut tomatoes and allow it to cook.
    6. Put a small piece of jaggery. Garnish with coriander.
