Ingredients

  • 2 - Rotis
  • Onion- 1 small (for every 5 rotis)
  • 1 - Carrot
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - urad dhal
  • 1/2 tsp - Jeera
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 2- Green chilli
  • Coriander leaves
  • How to Make Plain Roti Upma:

    1. Make (cut/tear) small pieces of rotis. Cut onions in to small pieces. Grate 1/4 of carrot.
    2. In a pan put 1 tbsp. oil, add mustard seeds (1 tsp), 1/2 tsp urad dal and 1/2 tsp jeera and stir.
    3. When urad dal turns red, add grated carrots, chopped onions. Stir for couple of minutes.
    4. Then add 1 tsp. turmeric powder, red chilli powder or 2 chopped green chilli.
    5. Then add the roti pieces and salt to taste.
    6. Sprinkle some water to soften the roti, mix well, cover it with a lid for 10 seconds, then again mix well & turn off the gas.
    7. Sprinkle chopped cilantro (coriander leaves), serve hot.
