Ingredients

  • Vegetables:
  • 1 packet - frozen Spinach or 3 bunches of fresh dill
  • 2 cups - beans, chopped
  • 3 - carrots, cut into thin, 1" pieces
  • 3 - peeled and chopped Potatoes
  • 2 cups - fresh Coconut pieces
  • 2 - jalapenos
  • 5 -6 - Mint leaves (optional)
  • 2 - medium-sized onions, chopped
  • 3 tsp - Channa dal
  • 4 - pepper Corns
  • 3 - Cloves
  • 1" piece - Cinnamon
  • 1" piece - Ginger
  • How to Make Plain Sagu:

    1. Fry the onions till brown.
    2. Fry jalapenos, mint leaves, pepper corns, cloves, cinnamon and ginger.
    3. Fry channa dal till brown.
    4. Grind all the above with coconut, very finely.
    5. Boil all the vegetables with a little salt.
    6. Mix the finely ground mixture with the vegetables and add salt.
    7. Boil for 15 minutes.
    8. Serve hot with puris or chapatti.
