Ingredients

  • 100 gm - raw tamarind
  • 1 - medium size tomato
  • 1 - medium size onion
  • Red chilli powder as per taste
  • Turmeric powder as per taste
  • Salt
  • For seasoning:
  • Oil
  • 1 tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - Jeera
  • 1 tsp - Bengal gram
  • 1 tsp - Urad dal
  • Some coriander leaves
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 - red chillies

How to Make Plain Tamarind chutney

  • Clean raw tamarind and cut them to pieces.
  • Add salt to taste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, sliced tomato and grind it into a paste.
  • For seasoning, add oil to the pan.
  • Add mustard seeds, jeera, Bengal gram, urad dal, red chilli, curry leaves and finely chopped onions.
  • Garnish this with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, chapatti or roti.
