  • 1 - plantain
  • 1 - onion
  • 1 tbsp - coconut (grated)
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Coriander leaves - 3 sprigs
  • 2 - green chilli
  • 1/2 tsp - urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp - channa dal
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard

How to Make Plantain (vazhakai) podimas curry

  • Cut the plantain into two pieces without removing the skin and boil it for exactly 5 mins.
  • Remove the skin and grate it and keep it aside.
  • Heat a tsp of oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds. When it sputters, add curry leaves, urad dal, channa dhal, chopped onions, diced chillies and fry till the onion turns golden brown.
  • Once done, reduce the flame and add the grated plantain, salt and lemon juice.
  • Mix well and garnish with fresh grated coconut and coriander leaves. Serve.
