Ingredients

  • 1.5 - kg ripe plums, wiped and stoned
  • 2 - Lemons
  • 6 cups (900gs) - Sugar
  • 8 to 10 drops - red colour (optional)

How to Make Plum Jam

  • Extract juice of lemons.
  • Tie rind and pit in a muslin bag.
  • Chop plums coarsely.
  • Put in a large cooking pan.
  • Add in juice and rind bag.
  • Heat till juice runs.
  • Simmer till fruit is tender.
  • Remove rind bag. Discard.
  • Add sugar. Stir to dissolve.
  • Add colour. Mix to blend.
  • Boil on high till setting point is reached.
  • Check with plate or spoon test.
  • Pour while hot into sterile jars.
  • Cool and seal shut.
