Ingredients

  • 10 - dry red chillies.
  • 1.5 - coconut.
  • 4 tbsp - cooking oil.
  • 2 tbsp - coriander.
  • 4 flakes - garlic.
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds.
  • 1/2 - onion.
  • 4 - peppercorns.
  • 1 - pomfret.
  • 2 tsp - salt.
  • 1 ball - tamarind.
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder.

How to Make Pomfret Curry with Coconut

  • Clean, cut and wash the fish.
  • Grind half of the coconut and extract the thick juice.
  • Grind the remaining coconut in this thin juice with the other ingredients for grinding.
  • In a handi, heat oil, fry sliced onions until brown, add the ground masala and fry.
  • Stir continuously.
  • Wash the left over masala in the grinder with four cups of water. Add fried masala and salt to it and boil.
  • Add the fish pieces and cook for about 15 mins, or till the fish is cooked.
  • Add the thick juice, taste and add salt if required.
  • Simmer for 10 more mins.
