Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Ash gourd (white pumpkin) chopped
  • 3 tbsp - Onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup - Curd
  • To temper:
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Urad Dhal
  • Curry leaves few
  • 1 Green chilli slit
  • Hing(Perungayam) a pinch
  • 1 tsp - Oil
  • How to Make Poosanikai Thayir Pachadi:

    1. Cut the pumpkin , discard the seeds and scrape off the skin.
    2. Chop it into cubes and set aside.
    3. Heat water in a pan and add the pumpkin with onions and cook till soft and transparent. Set aside.
    4. Heat a pan. Add items under 'temper', splutter and set aside.
    5. Add the tempered items to cooked pumpkin with required salt.
    6. Cool down completely and add curd and give a quick stir.
    7. Serve with rotis or rice.
