Ingredients

  • Chayote squash - 1.
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Salt - As required.
  • Toor dal - 1/2 cup.
  • For seasoning:
  • Mustard - 1 tbsp.
  • Curry leaves - 2 to 3.
  • To be ground:
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - A little.
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp.
  • pepper - 6 to 7 (whole).
  • Red Chillies - 4 to 5.
  • Jeera - 1 tbsp (whole).
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup.

How to Make Poricha Kuzhambu

  • Take Chayote squash and boil it in water with a little turmeric and salt.
  • Boil the tuvar dal in a cooker and keep it aside.
  • After squash is cooked, add the ground mixture and let it cook for sometime.
  • Then add the cooked tuvar dal.
  • After it is done, season it with curry leaves and mustard toasted in oil.
