Ingredients

  • Chayote squash - 1.
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp.
  • Salt - As required.
  • Toor Dal - 1/2 cup.
  • For seasoning:
  • Mustard - 1 tbsp.
  • Curry leaves - 2 to 3.
  • To be ground:
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - A little.
  • Urad Dal - 1/2 tbsp.
  • pepper - 6 to 7 (whole).
  • Red Chillies - 4 to 5.
  • Jeera - 1 tbsp (whole).
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup.
  • How to Make Poricha Kuzhambu:

    1. Take Chayote squash and boil it in water with a little turmeric and salt.
    2. Boil the tuvar dal in a cooker and keep it aside.
    3. After squash is cooked, add the ground mixture and let it cook for sometime.
    4. Then add the cooked tuvar dal.
    5. After it is done, season it with curry leaves and mustard toasted in oil.
