Ingredients

  • 1 kg - pork, cut into medium-sized pieces.
  • 1 tbsp - vinegar.
  • 1 tbsp - Worcestershire sauce.
  • 2 tbsp - Tomato sauce.
  • 2 tbsp - oil.
  • 2 large onions, sliced.
  • 2 tbsp chopped garlic.
  • 2 tbsp - chopped ginger.
  • 8 to 10 curry leaves.
  • 1 tbsp - sugar.
  • 1 tsp - Fenugreek seed powder (methi).
  • 1 tsp - mustard powder or paste.
  • 2 pieces cinnamon.
  • 3 cloves.
  • 3 tsp - chilli powder.
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 3 tbsp - oil.
  • How to Make Portuguese Devil Pork Curry:

    1. Marinate the pork with the vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, sugar and salt for about an 1 hour.
    2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker or pan and saute the onions, curry leaves, chopped ginger, chopped garlic, cinnamon and cloves till light brown.
    3. Add the marinated pork, chilli powder, turmeric powder, fenugreek powder, mustard and mix well.
    4. Simmer for a few minutes till the meat becomes firm.
    5. Add sufficient water and pressure cook for about 15-20 mins till the pork is cooked.
    6. Open the pressure cooker and simmer till the gravy is thick.
    7. Serve with rice, bread or chapattis.
