Ingredients

  • 4 - medium sized potatoes.
  • 1 - medium finely chopped onions.
  • 1 - medium Tomato finely chopped.
  • Juice of half a lemon.
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - Chaat masala.
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper powder.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Few - coriander leaves, finely chopped.
  • oil for frying.
  • How to Make Potato Gold Coins:

    1. Boil the potatoes in pressure cookers - whole. Do not cut them.
    2. Once boiled and cooled, peel them.
    3. Cut them in thick slices.
    4. Mix all the masala powders - red chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, chaat masala and salt.
    5. Gently coat the potato slices on both sides with the powders. Take care they do not crumble, hence, cut them in thick slices.
    6. Smear a little oil on a tawa and heat it.
    7. Place the coated potato slices around it and fry it turns a golden brown both sides, flipping them occasionally.
    8. Once done, transfer on plate.
    9. Mix chopped onions, tomatoes and coriander leaves together. Add lemon juice and salt to it and give it all a good toss.
    10. Top each potato slice with the mixture.
    11. Enjoy these yummy potato coins as they are or with pulao and kichidi.
