Ingredients

  • 4 - medium sized potatoes.
  • 1 - medium finely chopped onions.
  • 1 - medium tomato finely chopped.
  • Juice of half a lemon.
  • 1/2 tsp - Red chilli powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - Chaat masala.
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper powder.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Few - coriander leaves, finely chopped.
  • oil for frying.

How to Make Potato Gold Coins

  • Boil the potatoes in pressure cookers - whole. Do not cut them.
  • Once boiled and cooled, peel them.
  • Cut them in thick slices.
  • Mix all the masala powders - red chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, chaat masala and salt.
  • Gently coat the potato slices on both sides with the powders. Take care they do not crumble, hence, cut them in thick slices.
  • Smear a little oil on a tawa and heat it.
  • Place the coated potato slices around it and fry it turns a golden brown both sides, flipping them occasionally.
  • Once done, transfer on plate.
  • Mix chopped onions, tomatoes and coriander leaves together. Add lemon juice and salt to it and give it all a good toss.
  • Top each potato slice with the mixture.
  • Enjoy these yummy potato coins as they are or with pulao and kichidi.
