Ingredients

  • 2 kg - Prawns
  • 500 gms - lady's finger
  • 200 gms - Onions
  • 50 gms - Tamarind
  • 10 Cloves - Garlic
  • 1 inch - Ginger
  • 30 gms - Green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 100 ml - cooking oil
  • 2 - Coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Prawn Caldeen:

    1. Remove the shell, de-vein the prawns and wash.
    2. Slit green chillies.
    3. Slice ginger, garlic and onions.
    4. Grate and grind the coconuts into a fine paste.
    5. Heat oil, add sliced onions and saute lightly.
    6. Add coconut, sliced garlic, ginger, green chillies and turmeric.
    7. Add prawns and enough water to cook the prawns.
    8. Wipe lady's finger with a damp cloth and cut into pieces. Cook on a low flame.
    9. When almost cooked, add tamarind water and salt.
    10. Simmer till done.
    11. If desired, lady's finger may be fried in a little oil before adding them to the prawns.
