Ingredients

  • Tamarind - 3 cm round lump
  • oil - 4 tbsp
  • mustard - 1 tsp
  • Onion - 1 cup, finely chopped
  • Curry leaves few
  • shelled, cleaned Prawns - 500 gm
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • chilli powder - 2 tsp or to taste
  • pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shelled and cleaned Prawns - 500 gm
  • salt to taste
  • grated Coconut - 1 cup
  • How to Make Prawn Coconut Fry:

    1. Soak tamarind in one and a half cup hot water and extract the pulp.
    2. Heat the oil. Add mustard. When they crackle add onion and curry leaves. Fry till onions are brown.
    3. Add prawn, salt and turmeric. Fry till prawns are cooked. Add chilli and pepper powder.
    4. After 30 seconds add tamarind pulp. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add coconut and simmer till almost dry.
    5. Serve with steamed rice or Chapatti.
