Ingredients

  • A small round - Tamarind
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 cup - onion, finely chopped
  • a few - Curry leaves
  • 250 gm - shelled, cleaned Prawns
  • 1/4 tsp- Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - pepper powder
  • 250 gm - shelled and cleaned Prawns
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1/2 cup - grated Coconut

How to Make Prawn Thenga Fry

  • Soak tamarind in water and extract the pulp.
  • Heat the oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard. When they crackle add onion and curry leaves.
  • Fry till onions turn pink.
  • Add prawn, salt and turmeric.
  • Fry till prawns are cooked. Add chilli and pepper powder.
  • After few seconds, add tamarind pulp. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add coconut and simmer till almost dry.
  • Serve with steamed rice or chapatti.
