Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - cocktail prawns.
  • 1 cup - chopped onions.
  • 1 cup - peeled and chopped tomatoes.
  • 2 tbsp - butter.
  • 1 to 2 - bay leaves.
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds.
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder.
  • 1/4 tsp - black pepper powder.
  • 1/4 tsp - garam masala.
  • 1/2 tsp - Tabasco sauce.
  • 1/2 tsp - ginger paste.
  • 1/4 tsp - pepper powder.
  • 1/4 tsp - dhania powder.
  • 1/4 tsp - chilli powder.
  • 1/4 tsp - vinegar.
  • 2 - green chillies.
  • Fresh coriander for garnishing.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1 - lemon.
  • 1/4 tsp - garlic paste.

How to Make Prawns in Butter

  • Peel and clean the prawns.
  • Add salt, Tabasco sauce, pepper powder, half the lemon juice, ginger paste and vinegar. Keep aside for 20-30 mins.
  • In a pan, heat butter and fry the cumin seeds, bay leaves and slit chillies.
  • Add onions. Fry till light pink.
  • Add garlic paste and the marinated prawns.
  • Cook for a while and add tomatoes. Cook till it softens.
  • Then add turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala and dhania powder.
  • Cover and cook till water from prawns evaporates.
  • Add the remaining lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with rice or parathas.
