Ingredients

  • 100 g - medium sized prawns (cleaned, washed and deveined).
  • 1 large onion ( thinly sliced).
  • 1 large onion (ground into a fine paste).
  • 1 tsp - ginger paste.
  • 1.5 tsp - red chilli powder.
  • ½ tsp - turmeric powder.
  • 2 bay leaves.
  • 4 cloves.
  • 3 green cardamoms.
  • 1 stick cinnamon.
  • 2 cups - coconut milk.
  • 1.5 tsp - sugar.
  • 2 tbsp - ghee.
  • 3 to 4 slit green chillies.
  • handful of chopped coriander leaves (for garnishing).
  • salt to taste.

How to Make Prawns Malai Curry

  • Heat ghee in a heavy bottom vessel.
  • Add bay leaves, cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon and saute for half a minute.
  • Add the sliced onions and fry till golden brown.
  • Add the onion paste, ginger paste, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  • Saute till the ghee separates.
  • Add the prawns and fry for about 2 mins.
  • Add the coconut milk, sugar and salt to taste.
  • Cook till boiling point.
  • Cover with a lid and then simmer for about 10 mins.
  • Garnish with slit green chillies and chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice.
