Ingredients

  • 1 cup - rice.
  • 1 bunch - pudina.
  • 4 - onions, medium sized chopped.
  • 4 - green chillies.
  • 1 tsp - ginger, chopped.
  • Curry leaves for seasoning.
  • Mustard Seeds for seasoning.
  • Turmeric powder- a pinch.
  • 1.5 tsp - salt.
  • 1 tbsp - oil.
  • 2 cups - water, sufficient to cook rice.

How to Make Pudina Bath

  • Wash rice and cook well.
  • Grind pudina leaves, chillies and onions together without adding water.
  • In a kadai, heat oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves and ginger pieces.
  • Allow them to sizzle lightly in oil, then add the pudina-onion paste, cook on medium flame till the water evaporates and the paste starts leaving the kadai.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder, salt and cook for sometime.
  • Add the cooked rice and on a low flame mix the rice and the paste.
  • Remove from the flame and close the vessel for a few minutes.
  • Mix again and serve with raitha or dahi.
