Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Pumpkin (cubed)
  • 1 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Urad Dal
  • 2 - Green chillies (slit opened)
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafoetida powder
  • Curry leaves
  • Ghee
  • How to Make Pumpkin Pappu:

    1. Pressure cook the cubed pumpkin pieces, toor dal with turmeric powder for up to 3 whistles.
    2. Meanwhile heat enough ghee and add the mustard seeds, urad dal, slit opened green chillies, asafoetida powder and curry leaves and fry for few seconds.
    3. Now open the pressure cooker and mash the cooked dal and pumpkin well. Add the tempered spices and salt according to taste.
    4. Bring to a boil and put off the stove.
    5. Serve hot with rice.
