Ingredients

  • 1 cup - moong dal vadi (split green gram nuggets)
  • 2 - potatoes, sliced
  • 2 - onions, grated
  • 6 - Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp - ginger, grated
  • 2 - tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 - green chillies, chopped
  • 1/4 cup - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • spices
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp - kasori Methi
  • 2 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp - kashmiri masala
  • 4 tbsp - vegetable oil
  • water as required
  • How to Make Punjabi Aloo Wadi (Moong Dal Nuggets with Potato ):

    1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
    2. Fry the dal vadis and keep it aside.
    3. Add asafetida and cumin seeds.
    4. Add kasori methi garlic and ginger.
    5. Saute for 2-3 minutes and add onion.
    6. Add fried vadi's and stir in for 5 minutes.
    7. Now add the potatoes, mix well and saute on low heat for 5 minutes.
    8. Add all the spices and salt.
    9. Mix them well.
    10. Add chopped tomatoes and chillies and cook till oil comes out from the edges.
    11. Now add 4-6 cups of water.
    12. Cover the lid and cook it for 3-4 whistles.
    13. Open the lid and garnish with coriander leaves.
    14. Serve it hot with chapatti, phulka or naan.
