  • 1 cup Channa dal
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1.5 cups coconut, very finely shredded
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Oil for deep frying
  • How to Make Puran Karanji:

    1. Pressure cook channa dal till it's very soft. Mash it to make a paste. It should be a thick liquid.
    2. Take a thick bottom vessel (preferably pressure cooker), heat it and add sugar.
    3. As the sugar dissolves, add shredded coconut. Stir it for 2 to 3 minutes and keep it aside for cooling.
    4. In the meantime, make a dough with the wheat flour using a little water, salt and a tsp of hot oil.
    5. Roll out puris with the dough. On half portion of the puri, spread a tsp of the dal mixture. Fold.
    6. Deep fry in oil.
