Ingredients

  • 4 - medium Potatoes
  • 1 - Carrot
  • 1/2 cup - Green peas
  • 1 - big Onion
  • 4-5 - hot pepper, chopped fine
  • Juice from one fresh Lemon
  • 1/4 tsp - grated Ginger
  • 20 slices - white or brown bread
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped coriander

How to Make Quick Bread Balls

  • Boil potatoes, peel and mash them coarsely.
  • Finely chop carrots and cook with green peas till tender. Mix with the potatoes.
  • Finely chop onion and hot peppers.
  • Heat a little oil, add onions and saute till transparent. Then add hot pepper and ginger.
  • Remove from fire and add this to the potato mixture along with coriander, salt and lemon juice.
  • Mix well and make 20 small lime-sized balls. Keep them aside.
  • Keep a plate of water ready and lightly dip both sides of the bread slices.
  • Press them between your palms and squeeze any excess water out without spoiling the shape of the bread slices. (If the bread is fresh, you do not have to dip in water).
  • Now place a potato ball inside and fold the bread over and mould it like you would while making a snowball. Do the same with all the bread slices.
  • Deep fry a few at a time.
  • Can be eaten with ketchup, hot sauce or as is.
