Ingredients

  • 500 gm - fish fillet, cleaned
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp - coconut oil
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 2 sprigs curry leaves
  • 1 - medium onion, sliced
  • 5 cloves - garlic, chopped
  • 1 inch - fresh ginger, chopped
  • 3 - green chillies, cut in half
  • 1 medium-sized tomato, sliced
  • 400 ml - thick coconut milk
  • 1/2 tsp - crushed black pepper
  • 2 tbsp - vinegar
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Quick Fish molee

  • Marinate the fish fillet with red chilli powder, half the turmeric powder, salt and few drops of oil.
  • Sear both sides of the marinated fish on a non-stick pan.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and allow to crackle.
  • Add curry leaves, ginger, garlic and onion.
  • Allow garlic to turn slightly brown and onions soft.
  • Add remaining turmeric powder, green chillies and diced tomatoes. Stir well.
  • Add 100 ml of water and cook for 2 mins.
  • Add coconut milk and bring to a boil.
  • Add the fish fillets and cook till the gravy is slightly thick.
  • Add crushed black pepper and vinegar.
  • Adjust seasoning and serve hot with steamed rice.
