Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Radish greens (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafoetida powder
  • 6 - Garlic pods (crushed)
  • 2 - Dry Red Chillies
  • A few Curry leaves
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - as needed
  • How to Make Radish Greens Dal:

    1. Cook toor dal with turmeric powder and chopped greens in a pressure cooker up to 3 whistles. Add the chilli powder, salt and water. Cook everything for a few minutes.
    2. Heat enough oil in a pan and let the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida powder and curry leaves splutter.
    3. Add the dry red chillies, crushed garlic pods and fry until they turn brown.
    4. Add this tempered spices to the dal and put off the stove.
    5. Serve hot with rice, papads or any spicy side dish.
