Ingredients

  • 2 cups - moong dal
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 4 onions (chopped finely)
  • 5 green chillies, chopped
  • 1.5 bunch coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • For the gravy:
  • 6 onions, chopped finely
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp - coriander seeds
  • 5 red chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

How to Make Rangi curry

  • Soak moong dal in water for about 5-6 hours.
  • Grind it to a fine paste with coriander seeds, onions, green chillies and salt.
  • Flatten and steam cook the batter.
  • When it is cool, cut into cubes.
  • Fry the chopped onions, coriander seeds, red chillies and coconut and grind it into a fine paste.
  • Fry the paste in oil.
  • Add salt to taste and enough water to make a gravy.
  • When oil is separated from the masala, add the dal cubes and cook on a low fire.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
