  • 1/2 cup - Rava / sooji
  • 1 tsp - Gram (Pottukadalai / Chutney Dal, Roasted )
  • 1 tsp - Coconut (scraped)
  • 1/2 tbsp - Butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp - Sesame seeds(White)
  • Oil for Deep Frying.

How to Make Rava Seedai

  • Grind the rava and pottukadalai into a powder in a grinder.
  • Dry roast the coconut and sesame seeds separately until golden brown.
  • Add butter, salt, the roasted coconut, sesame seeds and the ground rava and pottukadalai.
  • Knead it into a soft pliable dough.
  • Cover and keep aside for 45 mins.
  • Now make small balls of the dough and allow it to dry in a cloth for 10 mins.
  • Heat the oil for Deep Frying.
  • Now fry the balls until golden.
  • Drain in a kitchen towel to absorb the excess oil.
  • Serve hot.
