  • 2 - Raw banana
  • 3 tsp - Toor Dal
  • 1 - small Lemon size Tamarind
  • 2 tsp - sambar powder
  • 1 tsp - Rice flour
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • For Seasoning:
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • 2 tsp - grated Coconut
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp - Channa dal
  • 1 tsp - Urad Dal
  • How to Make Raw Banana Pulitta Koottu:

    1. Pressure cook the dal and keep aside
    2. Soak tamarind in water and extract the juice
    3. Cook the finely chopped banana.
    4. When the raw bananas are half cooked, add the tamarind extract, salt, turmeric and sambar powder
    5. When the mixture starts to boil add the mashed dhal.
    6. Mix the rice flour in a little water and add to the kootu to make it thick and boil for some time
    7. In a separate pan, add oil and splutter mustard seeds, add the channa dhal and urad dal and fry till the dal turns brown.
    8. Now add the grated coconut and fry till it becomes red colour. Add a pinch of asafoetida.
    9. Add these seasoned dhal to the kootu.
